Things at Squishface on a Thursday: Jo and Benno working hard. The new spinner rack. Sarah teaches.
Ben has a musical alias: Tootleg Boy. He uploads a new Tootleg Boy song every day! In this clip, Benno writes a song called “Cherry Tomatoes” and you get to see how he does it.
One of the things we’re doing in Gippsland in July is THIS exhibition at the Cowwarr Art Space!
The opening is on Sunday 8th July at 2pm. We’ll be there, because we’re doing a big fun two day comics jam event over that weekend — also at Cowwarr Art Space. Anyone ‘round Gippsland who wants to hang out and draw with the Squishfacers should get themselves there!
Thanks to Matt Emery, who reminded me we needed to post this up!
It’s on for this weekend only, as far as I can tell. Featuring work by Mandy Ord, Dillon Naylor, Daniel Reed, David Blumenstein, Ben Hutchings, Kirrily Schell, Bernard Caleo, Ive Sorocuk, Leigh Rigozzi, Marta Tesoro, Jase Harper and Neale Blanden.
Squishface monthly drawing night, number 4! Here’s some pics.
Ben, Azza and Jase Harper made this thing called a Picklet. What’s a Picklet? It’s a digital pop-up book you can read on an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
Stewart Haines built the app and the software that lets you make these things. YOU can make one yourself and sell it via the Picklet app!
Here’s pics from the Picklets 1.0 launch. Ben and Azza performed their Picklet story: The Three Baddest Bandits of the Wild, Wild West!
David here. As part of Caravan of Comics, which we are still on, we’re sending postcards back to the wonderful people at home with stuff we drew on them. Here’s a couple with drawings by me, Benno, Andrew Fulton and Pat Grant on there!
Kane and Larry of the Aussie comics podcast NonCanonical had Benno as their guest in episode 93, and recorded the ep at Squishface Studio!
We had a great time. The whole podcast is worth a listen (go to noncanonical.com), but this is a 5 minute clip where Ben talks about how Squishface started and who’s in there.
I put this bit up so NonCanonical listeners can check out some of the artwork by Marta and Sacha that the guys are mentioning. Whee! I also enjoy Marta’s frightened expression when Ben says her book will be out soon.
Would you believe Squishface just got a YouTube channel?
