Style Cramp.
Publishing a 24-hour comic is the height of artistic arrogance. But I thought mine was way better than everyone else’s, and so Milk Shadow Books have released 24 Hours from Paradise as a fine minicomic! Order one from here, or just grab one when you come to Squishface next!
Our friends at All Star Comics (“Our Comic Shop’s Lack Of Creepiness, Passive-Aggression And Smarm Is Your Pleasure”) are hosting a really fun looking event in the laneway next to their shop for Free Comic Book Day.
Free Comic Book Day is on May 4. It’s the day you go to the local comic shop and pick up some free books and meet some creators.
We’re not doing a special event at Squishface — instead, a bunch of us are going to All Star’s event, where you’ll find us at a table doing sketches just for YOU!
There’s great local artists drawing all day, but in the 11:30am-1pm slot, you’ll find:
So come to the corner of Lonsdale and Hardware St in the CBD this Saturday, 11:30-1pm, and get a sketch from one of us. I (David) will be happy to draw any character you like as a cylinder with stumps for hands.
Come earlier or later for lots more excellent artists. It’s actually pretty huge. Lots of Squishy friends will be there also.
And while you’re in the city, drop by Silent Army Storeroom’s Free Comic Book Day event too!
Fun day at the Home Cooked Comics Festival, Northcote Town Hall
Check it out — we have new Squishfacers!
Marta’s just started a new job that’s going to eat her life, so she’s hanging up her desk for a while. And Scarlette’s going on the Caravan of Comics. So we’ve got new short-termers in the studio: Jase Harper and Laura Renfrew!
Jase is a freelance illustrator working on a graphic novel, and Laura is interning for our friends at Milk Shadow Books.
DO NOT FRET: Marta says she’ll still be involved in our events, and make horrendous sugary desserts for same.
What have we missed?
